Portrait of Laval

Laval is the 3rd largest city in the province of Quebec in terms of population, with more than 440,000 Laval residents.

Sourires Solidaires offers service to children aged 0 to 17, with a particular attention being given to vulnerable children.

WHY IS SOURIRES SOLIDAIRES IN LAVAL?

Laval does not have a pediatric dental clinic acting as a referral center for the local community. This lack of services makes it difficult to properly take care of the oral health of citizens requiring more specialized and adapted care.

Considering the growing vulnerability factors among children in Laval, the community clinic model, where local actors can collaborate, is the most appropriate choice for dental care.

1,700 children with anxiety-depressive disorders

1600 autistic children

3500 children with ADHD

8250 children affected by mental disorders

THE LOCATION OF THE CLINIC

Laval is a peri-urban region divided into different neighborhoods, and Chomedey is the most populated neighborhood. Chomedey alone accounts for more than 30% of children aged 0 to 17 from families living below the low-income threshold in Laval.
